About Pierre-Etienne
I have been working in the field of Social Development and Human Rights since 2005, working with people to help them build their capacities and leadership skills to eventually increase resilience and improve the quality of their life.
Many years ago, while I was working for the United Nations and talking to a person living with HIV named Salma about her situation, she told me: “you know what? HIV is the best thing that ever happened to me”. At first, I was confused and unable to understand what Salma was talking about until I read about Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). With the proper support, Salma had been able to transform this highly challenging life circumstance into an opportunity to grow and change her core beliefs about herself, about others, and about her philosophy of life. She had created the conditions for a deeply meaningful personal transformation.
As I was searching for ways to foster this growth amongst the people I was working with, I discovered several modalities that would change my life and my clients’! Building on my background in social development and transformational leadership, I studied Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Mindfulness. These are today the main modalities I use everyday with my clients to help them take control and improve the quality of their life, while teaching them the skills to sustain their progress and achievements. While most of my work as a clinical hypnotherapist has been focusing on helping clients overcome trauma, I also helped clients with release stress and anxiety, manage chronic pain, boost immunity, change unwanted behaviors, get rid of fears/phobias, lose weight, stop smoking, improve sleep, improve memory, and deal with addiction.
After living in Egypt for 10 years, I finally moved to Los Angeles in 2013 with my family to establish my practice and start implementing several non-profit initiatives aiming at supporting vulnerable populations. I am the founder of Hypnotherapy Without Borders, using hypnotherapy as a tool for social activism and community empowerment, particularly among vulnerable populations. I am also the Arab States Coordinator for First Medicines, a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce suffering and enhance health around the world, regardless of people’s ability to pay. As part of my work with First Medicines, I organized and co-facilitated trainings for Field Hospital volunteers and medical staff in Tahrir square in Cairo, Egypt on Critical Care Communication, as well as trainings on hypnotherapy for trauma recovery for practitioners.
I have had the privilege to study with some of the world leading experts in the field of hypnotherapy.
I believe it is crucial for clinical hypnosis practitioners to be up-to-date on the latest developments in our field, particularly when it comes to the available research on the efficiency of treatment protocols i.e. what are the interventions that help you get better and achieve your goals!
