A note from our Founder....
I teach sensationally, meaning I teach you what you're supposed to feel so you are feeling and doing each movement in tandem. Most people just teach Pilates exercises and the students or clients mimic the movements, but there is so much more than that.
It's like the difference between the everyday athletic person and a dancer. If a dancer and that person were working out in a gym chances are you would notice the dancer, the flow of movement, the focus of the intent, the aim towards total concentration on what he or she is doing. A "normal" person may be able to work out and talk on the phone the whole time, but you wouldn't be able to do that in a Pilates or Gyrotonic's class.
Pilates and Gyrotonic are techniques that teach people the concentration and control of the body a dancer has. The core movement and engagement of muscles with integration of breath changes the way a person moves and changes the way a person tones their muscles. And the core isn't just your abs, every part of your body has a core so it's the core of whatever movement you're doing.
Your body is a beautiful, integrated, ever-evolving machine. It deserves to the be the best it can be, and so do you, and I'm committed to helping you achieve that.
-Tracy
Tracy began her career in the 1980's at the age of 16 when she first began teaching dance. At 17 she began dancing professionally, eventually joining several dance companies and becoming an artistic director in her own right. A testament to her unparalleled work ethic and passion, Tracy continued to create a name for herself in the professional world while simultaneously completing a degree in dance.
Tracy's discovery of Pilates happened by accident. In 1988, Pilates was a relatively new addition to the world of health and fitness disciplines; information on the practice was scarce and only a few studios existed in Los Angeles. Always searching for ways to expand and improve her physicality and add integrity to her practice, she soon realized that Pilates had all the elements she was searching for. Without an existing market for Pilates classes, Tracy focused on training with an eye towards bringing the practice to her future clientele.
Tracy opened one of the first three Pilates studios in Orange County. With a dedicated clientele the practice grew to include Gyrotonics, Dance, Barre, and fusion programs. Tracy also continued to develop her own skill set outside the studio by launching complementary programs in gyms and by bringing her particular brand of integrated training to independent athletes, incorporating it into physical therapy regimes, and introducing the Tracy Fitzpatrick pilates instruction and core fitness ideals to other yoga studios.
Tracy initiated the Aline Certification Program to foster the same passion she felt in a whole new generation of teachers. She also started programs for professional surf teams affiliated with Quiksilver Pro Am and Roxy Pro. She expanded programs at the Vintage Club in Indian Wells and Revolution Studio in Los Angeles and launched new programs at Yoga Place (now Yoga Works), Lakeshore Towers (now 24hr Fitness), and The Girls Gym.
Recently, Tracy's own battle with chronic lyme disease has lead her to expand her focus to encompass overall fitness and body conditioning as well as helping to rehabilitate people with chronic pain and illnesses. In the fitness arena, Tracy has integrated dance, yoga, and cardio programs to create a unique approach to helping clients reach and achieve new levels of physical fitness and toned, athletic physiques. For clients struggling with chronic illness, Tracy has developed specialized programs to help combat many forms of arthritis, including both osteo and rheumatoid, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and muscle atrophy. Having experienced the difficult, frustrating path towards recovery herself, Tracy is dedicated to using personal training to help her clients understand their bodies on a deeper level, so they can take charge of their recovery and get well – one carefully designed and integrative session at a time.
